“What is my purpose? What am I meant to be doing with my life? “
It is one of the biggest questions we ask ourselves and one of the hardest to answer.
Because when we hear the word purpose, we equate that to mean “why was I put on this earth“. And well… that just seems really… big.
What I know to be true for me, is that no one handed me a rule book on how we are supposed to live our lives. All we know for certain is that we are on this earth for a limited time and while we are here, we spend our time doing two things. Meaningful things, and then things that just pass the time.
So, instead of asking “What is my purpose”, try asking “What should I be doing that is meaningful?”
What meaningful things can you do in your life?
When we engage in things that mean something, we have a chance to express our individuality because what is important to me, is going to be different than what is important to you. And when we get to express what makes us unique, we start to see our gifts shine.
When I was going through this process, I worked with a series of 5 questions. Using these questions helped me to discover more about myself and my journey.
5 Questions to ask yourself when discovering your passion and purpose
- If you were to meet your younger self, what would they be upset to learn about you?
- What things would you give up sleep for?
- What things are you willing to do that others won’t?
- What would you do if you knew your couldn’t fail?
- What do you want to be remembered for?
